Since SHARE to CARE started collecting clothes in August 2019, we have received over 900 kg of clothes! From the moment the clothes are received, there is a process we go through to make it easy and as efficient as possible afterwards.
Sorting the clothes
When we get a bag of clothes, we sort it according to both gender and age. This way, Bruna and Rafael can pick a little from each bag to give to a family.
We use IKEA bags to pack the clothes as they are practical and can withstand a lot of weight. When a bag is around 20 kg, we add a sheet that says which gender and age the clothes are for.
Since August 2019, around 100 people have donated clothes to SHARE to CARE!
Transport of the clothes
We send bags together with volunteers who travel by plane to Brazil, and who have free baggage weight. So far, 28 volunteers have taken one or more bags to Rio de Janeiro. Some have even brought three times! The volunteers who want to bring bags are acquaintances or people who have seen the SHARE to CARE Facebook page.
When the bags arrive in Rio de Janeiro, they are kept in a room for a period. When we have collected enough bags, Rafael and Bruna hold a distribution in the poorest areas of the city.
